We understand the effects of a natural disaster or industry downturn event is never isolated to one group within a community. Family run farms and small businesses are employers of the community, purchase goods and services from other businesses and participate in events, clubs and schools of the wider community. When family run farms and small businesses experience significant financial and personal hardship it affects the entire community.
AgBiz Care is committed to assisting individuals and families directly affected by economic and environmental disasters as well as the greater community through:
- Providing tailored support
- Raising and channelling funds to disaster effected people and their communities
- Support people to build their confidence and capacity
- Refer and connect people to available services and support to enable recovery
- Provide support and risk management training to mitigate the effects of future disasters.
Outcomes:
- Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, AgBiz Care was able to supply some much needed laptops and a printer to the Walwa Bush Nursing Centre. As many of you would be aware, the Upper Murray was severely affected by bushfires in January 2020. One of the many outcomes was that residents were cut off from electricity and communications. The laptops provided to the centre will be available for general public use, so that residents will have the ability to connect to the internet.
